Yamachichi (山地乳) is a yōkai that resembles a monkey with sharp, pointed lips. Supposedly, an aged monkey becomes a Yamachichi and lives secluded in the mountains. It sucks out a sleeping human's breath, but, if someone else sees this, the sleeping person's life will be extended. Otherwise, the person will die the following day. Yamachichi is often regarded as being similar to the yōkai Satori.
