After bidding goodbye to Kana and Kiyotsugu, Rikuo returns to the Nura Clan's main house to head a massive meeting of yōkai from all across Japan. Despite his explaining the upcoming "cleansing" to the other yōkai leaders, they show no intention of offering even the slightest bit of assistance. Rather, they accuse Rikuo of being afraid and demand to see Nurarihyon, with whom they would rather speak. Rikuo's "night" self asks if he should take over, but "day" Rikuo refuses - opting instead to rely on diplomacy to win over the other leaders.
He is a bit surprised when Tamazuki stands up for him and Dassai, another leader, accuses everyone else of being the scared ones. The other leaders remain standoffish until the sudden arrival of an injured messenger from Kyushu, who reports that Kyushu's strongest yōkai clan is on the verge of annihilation. Panic sweeps through the assembly as they immediately assume that the "cleansing" has begun earlier than expected. Rikuo shifts to his "night" form and declares his intent to go to Kyushu to investigate. He asks for volunteers to join him, telling those of the Nura Clan to remain behind, and both Tamazuki and Dassai express interest.
Meanwhile, in Kyoto, Yura rushes to the ruins of Nijō Castle following a report that an immense amount of yōkai energy has burst forth from there. When she arrives, she finds Tsuchigumo - who muses that he needs to head home to Mount Aso in Kyushu to get back his arms...
