The wild-eyed girl realizes that the boy on the subway can see her, and they are suddenly transported to a place that looks like a meeting place of tree roots. He follows after when she disembarks, and she tells him to come and find her before vanishing into the shadows of the trees. He ultimately proves unable to, and the roots overwhelm him. The girl reappears, stating that he can't live or return home since he couldn't find her.
At the Nura House, Rikuo has members of the Nura Clan asking around to see if any yōkai have seen the missing Natsumi, with no success. After hearing the list of locations they have checked, Rikuo recalls the ghost story Kiyotsugu had told them, and decides to check the subway.
Meanwhile, a strange shadow appears in the corner of a train car, forming into the wild-eyed girl. A shocked Saori stares, believing the girl to be Natsumi. Elsewhere, the real Natsumi wakes up enveloped in tree roots, and the man who stopped her from fleeing states that no one will find her. Before leaving, he explains that he will have her die scared, cold, and alone in the dark and she screams for someone to help her. Back in the train car, the wild-eyed girl realizes that Saori can see her.
