Kyōka Suigetsu (鏡花水月; Literally meaning "Mirror Flower, Water Moon") is Rikuo's hyoui technique. It distorts an enemy's perception of him by creating an illusion akin to an afterimage. Those under the influence of the technique can be easily outmaneuvered by the one using it.

History Edit

Kyōka Suigetsu Explanation 2

Explanation of Kyōka Suigetsu

According to Rikuo's story, Nurarihyon told him a story about their species when Rikuo saw a moon in the pond during daytime and tried to make a ripple. Nurarihyon said that the moon stays on the water surface which looks like a mirror. Evenly if Rikuo is making a ripple on water to catch the moon, it won't succeed, for even when he is making a ripple he won't reach it and it will waver back and forth slipping away from him[1].

Law Edit

This technique appears in the classical text Law of Kyōka Suigetsu (鏡花水月法, Kyōka Suigetsu-hō; Literally meaning "Kyōka Suigetsu Law") which contains that there is no clear explanation about the technique which happens to be a simply phrase meant to conjure up that image in the mind of the reader, rather than becoming hard to believe in, it gains an even greater presence[1].
