Hakuzōzu is the leader of the forces set to watch over the skies of Kyoto.
Appearance[]
Personality[]
He is an honorable and old-fashioned yōkai who abides by the traditions of war and is even willing to stop his underlings from attacking if they don't follow the same rules.
Synopsis[]
Kyōto Arc[]
He fights Rikuo once the latter's forces enter Kyoto airspace, and Rikuo manages to slice dakini into pieces by severing its fear. With his weapon destroyed, Hakuzōzu pleasantly admits defeat, seats himself on the deck of Rikuo's ship, and demands that Rikuo give him an honorable death via beheading - though first he feels the need to compose a haiku containing far too many syllables.
Rikuo seemingly agrees to Hakuzōzu's request, but hits him over the head with Takimaru instead of using Nenekirimaru to kill him. When he questions if Rikuo is mocking him, he is told that Rikuo has taken a liking to him and is offered a place in Rikuo's Hyakki Yakkō. He declines, however, stating that since Hagoromo-Gitsune took him in, he can't become Rikuo's ally. Before he leaves, he gives Rikuo's group a piece of advice to head for the location of the first seal.
Abilities[]
He is a master of the Fear technique as it is seen radiating from his entire body. He fights with a staff weapon, strong enough to lift a boat.
Weapons[]
- He wields a massive spear called dakini (荼枳尼) which is so powerful that its fear can freeze an enemy in their tracks.
Quotes[]
- "The Nura Clan is no exception... the fellow commanders name themselves and fight. That's the way war proceeds."
